Village and urbanisation
San Fulgencio was founded in 1729 when Cardinal Belluga drained the marshes near the Segura mouth into farmland and settled families on them. The old village still sits among irrigated fields.
Most residents now live nearer the sea in the La Marina urbanisation, one of the most international communities on the Costa Blanca. Between the two lie the Iberian sites of the Sierra del Molar.
